Origgin partners with IES-INCA to strengthen its VCC ecosystem

Origgin has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Jiangsu Nanjing Eco Hi-Tech Island Economic Development Zone Administrative Committee (SNEIC) and the Sino-Singapore Nanjing Eco Hi-Tech Island Development Company (SNEI) during the 2nd Singapore-Nanjing International AI Forum on Smart Cities on the 10th of May 2019.

The forum was attended by Dr Koh Poh Koon, Senior Minister of State for Trade & Industry of Singapore, Mr Yang Xuepeng, Deputy Mayor of Nanjing, and senior leaders from the Singapore, Jiangsu and Nanjing Government. The theme for this year is “Empower a Smarter Living –To Establish a Demonstrative Zone of the Smart City”. As the Island enters its 10th anniversary year, its focus is on developing the artificial intelligence industries to attract leading enterprises and talents both from home and abroad to build the Island as a demonstrative zone for the capabilities of smart cities technologies.

Under the MoU, Origgin will establish the Artificial Intelligence Innovation Centre on the Island, focusing on commercialization of technology in areas including, but not limited to, robotics, artificial intelligence, and high-end medical appliances.

Through the Innovation Centre, Singaporean start-ups will be able to enter the China market by using Nanjing as a test-bed for proof-of-concept before expanding further into the region. The centre will also serve as a hub for Southeast Asia expansion, by bringing technologies out of China and into Southeast Asia. By connecting the two smart cities, this partnership will leverage on the resources of both to engineer and catalyse opportunities and growth, especially in the field of artificial intelligence and clean technologies, throughout both the China and Southeast Asia region.

Origgin, with its Venture Co-Creation (VCCTM) platform, aims to create and manage deep tech start-ups to address business pain points while guiding start-ups to their initial success. This involves working together with industry partners and leading research institutes and universities in Singapore and the rest of the world to discover new opportunities for enterprise growth by innovation.

SNEIC, as an administrative body representing the Municipal government, which manages the Singapore-Nanjing Eco Hi-Tech Island’s (“Island”), aims to provide support through conducive policy-making and the provision of resources to facilitate the innovation and development of the science and technology industry on the Island, and to build application demonstration areas for artificial intelligence enterprises.

SNEI, as a master developer of the Island, aims to showcase the Island as a centre for the development and advancement of science and technology, to promote international cooperation and the commercialization of scientific and technological achievements on the Island to create a platform for innovation, and to promote the development of high-tech industries on the Island.
